Healthcare in the Susquehanna Valley: How Federal Funding Impacts The Quality of our Healthcare
October 29, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeMany of us don’t realize just how much our community relies on federally funded services and programs. For example, both Medicare and Medicaid provide vital services to members of our community while keeping our local taxes and personal expenses from spiraling out of control. Medicaid, for example, provides access to healthcare, including life-saving substance and drug treatment plans. It allows our aging loved ones to extend their lives with nursing home care, or to age safely with in-home care.
Medicaid even subsidizes support systems for students in our public schools. The Affordable Care Act also plays a big role in our lives. It helps individuals obtain affordable health insurance. Also, thanks to the ACA’s consumer protections, people with pre-exiting conditions are able to purchase health insurance without worrying about being priced out of the market. How are these programs benefiting you? Why should you care if these programs are cut or eliminated? How can you ensure that they will be there if you or your loved ones need them? Join us Monday, October 29 at 6:30PM (Union County Public Library) to engage in a discussion with experts who understand and/or help administer these programs. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn more about Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act, programs we all benefit from whether we know it or not.
The public library of Union County is not endorsing or sponsoring this program or any goods or services provided.
