“Wild Pennsylvania” is a multimedia presentation, done in the Ken Burns style of film making, in which the viewer is taken on a tour of Pennsylvania’s wild and natural areas. Over 400 still images fade, pan and zoom during a running narration with subtle periodic background music. The video was featured at the 2007 BackBear Film Festival, many Sierra Club groups, Audubon chapters, state parks and other venues. It runs approximately 50 minutes.
The viewer will experience, through a visual and poetic style tour, the vast and diversified natural environments of Pennsylvania. The viewer will also see an ecological connection between these natural communities and in a minor way the human influence on these communities. The objective is to give the viewer a sense of wonder and appreciation, and to stimulate a need to protect these natural environments for the quality of human life.
Michael P. Gadomski is a professional photographer, filmmaker, and writer located in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. For 25 years he was employed as a park naturalist and a park ranger by the Pennsylvania Bureau of State Parks. In 2002 he left the State Park Service to devote himself to a full time photography career.
Because he takes a naturalistic approach to photography the vast majority of his subjects are illuminated in natural light. Often working on the edge to get lighting or compositions not often seen by the casual observer, his images often take on an artistic or abstract characteristic. His images have been used by hundreds of publishers and have been published worldwide.
His books include, “Wild Pennsylvania – A Celebration of Our State’s Natural Beauty”, “Philadelphia – Portrait of a City” (both the original Graphic Arts Books edition and the new revised edition by Schiffer Publishing), “The Catskills – A Photographic Portrait”, “Reserves of Strength – Pennsylvania’s Natural Landscape”, “Philadelphia: A Renaissance City”, The Poconos: Pennsylvania’s Mountain Treasure”, and “Pennsylvania: A Portrait of the Keystone State”. At the end of the presentation Mr. Gadomski will answer question and autograph books.
