Citizens Climate Lobby Meeting
February 7, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
We need a progressive and effective plan for addressing Climate Change and Greenhouse Gas pollution. Another bill was introduced into the Senate demanding that a fee be placed on carbon pollution. Corporations and energy companies MUST pay for the deadly pollution not get subsidized for it.
We have been educating congress and the public about this very plan for the past three years through our chapter of the Citizens Climate Lobby. We are looking at justice-minded approaches to the climate crisis.
We will meet for just an hour on Sunday Feb 7 at 4 PM at Lori, Scott, and Soren Kershner’s house on the campus of Susquehanna University (413 University Ave, Selinsgrove, PA 17870). The meeting will be to connect and plan for the next 6 months and our meeting with congress, but I will also share a short interview with our own Dr. Kathy Straub. It’s lively, informative, and a good jumping off point for a discussion about personal vs. collective action.
Citizens Climate Lobby is an International organization with a single goal—to lobby government and the public so that a fee is placed on fossil fuels. That fee will then be returned as a dividend to households. It’s elegant plan to radically reduce pollution and jump-start an energy transformation while being careful to consider the needs of poor and working class families. The Susquehanna Valley chapter is nearly four years old and covers Districts 10 and 11 (Marino and Barletta). Learn more at http://citizensclimatelobby.org. Join them on Facebook.
