Clean Energy Challenges in Pennsylvania
November 11, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
FreePennsylvania, like many other states, is entering a new era of energy resources. Through energy efficiency, we have reduced fossil fuel use, especially for electricity. But climate change will call for more rigorous actions to curb carbon pollution. Maureen Mulligan, the KEEA Policy Director, will discuss how Pennsylvania’s Act 129 and other energy policies have put us on the right path. She will also outline the challenges that adopting a Clean Power Plan and revamping the AEPS will face in a state with strong carbon interests. Be prepared to discuss how we can inspire clean energy actions in our region.
Maureen Mulligan is Policy Director for the Keystone Energy Efficiency Alliance (KEEA), which represents the clean energy industry in Pennsylvania. She led the campaign to enact and expand Act 129, which requires utilities to offer energy efficiency programs. Maureen also was a renewable energy advocate on the AEPS and other renewable energy initiatives, and was a consumer education division chief at the PUC.
