Drilling Policies, Property Rights and Environmental Outcomes: Lessons from Pennsylvania to Inform New York
November 5, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Binghamton University scholar Rob Holahan will present the outcomes of his research on fracking during the lecture Drilling Policies, Property Rights and Environmental Outcomes: Lessons from Pennsylvania to Inform New York, scheduled for Nov. 5 at Susquehanna University’s Isaacs Auditorium in Seibert Hall. The lecture begins at 6 p.m., and is free and open to the public.
Holahan, an assistant professor of environmental studies and political science at Binghamton University, has spent the past several years studying the implications of fracking. His unique background in both environmental studies and politics has allowed him to explore various topics that marry the two subjects. An accomplished scholar, he has been published in Science, Ecological Economics, Marine Policy and other scholarly journals.
Recently, his research has focused on “unraveling the property rights over and institutionalized evolution of the regulations governing the use of unconventional oil and gas development using high-volume horizontal hydraulic fracturing.” Utilizing common pool resource theory, Holahan and his associates have brought a new perspective to the controversial topic of fracking.
The lecture is sponsored by the departments of political science, economics and earth and environmental sciences at Susquehanna University.
